Really Mr. Bettman? Really?

So as im sure you have heard, hey photo galleries are my number one priority right now, Gary Bettman seems to want to kick the Dolans out of the NHL. Blueshirt Bulletin has top-notch coverage like always.

I have some thoughts on this….

  • Why couldn’t David Stern have done this 3 years ago? Maybe the Knicks would be good. I guess we will never know.
  • Ummmm this cant actually happen….right?
  • As much as i dislike Dolan, and believe me i do, i like him as Rangers owner for 2 reasons, 1) he doesn’t seem to care about them nearly as much as he cares about the Knicks (Funny off topic story, my dads friend has seats right behind the visitors penalty box. Dolans seats are in the second row one section to the right, towards center ice. So to sum up i have sat physically closer to the ice than the owner on 2 maybe 3 occasions) and 2) his enormously deep Cablevision pockets. Even though there is a salary cap now, and its more of a leveled playing field, i still like his deep pockets.

Lets say this happens. Bettman gets his wish and kicks Dolan out because the Rangers wanted to run their own website. Uhhh where do the Rangers play then? How are they watched on TV?

Because the last time i checked Mr Dolan owns Madison Square Garden, where they play, and the television network, MSG, that they play on. Why wouldn’t he just pull them out of the Garden and take them off TV.  How would Gary Bettman like not having his biggest market and most loyal fanbase without a team. Im sure the Icelanders and Devils can carry the load. Yea and the Nets will become bigger than the Knicks.

Now the smart thing would be to ban him from doing everything but signing checks and appointing some great Rangers legend to control the team. Hmmm who could do that? I don’t know maybe a certain number 11 whose number is retired and expressed a large interest in becoming part of Rangers management.

So once again to sum up, like everything else in life Mark Messier is the answer. And lets leave it at that for tonight.

NOTE: The Draft is tomorrow night and since i am not familiar with the prospects i wont write anything but something will be written in the aftermath of it all.
